Food Storage

Larry thinks we are broke. We're not but he felt compelled to get some money out of the credit union to pay some bills early. I suppose it will make us feel not so broke. I told him I would keep my recession attitude and I know it would be a good thing for us to get out of debt.

I have been recession cooking this week, just using what's in the house with a great deal of success, I might add.

We've had chicken noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, pancakes with hot apple, cranberry, honey topping. (different meals and all very tasty)

Today we're living off the land and our food storage. I have made split pea soup (I even have some fresh parsley and basil left in my failed herb garden) and tangerine orange honey lemonade. I will make Paula Deen's recipe for hoe cakes closer to dinner time. Dessert will be chocolate pudding or rice pudding. Maybe I'll make both and mix them.

(my life feels abundant)

Well, duh, that's because your life IS abundant!!!

I don't even have a square foot of earth to grow a sprig of parsley. You're rich, I tell ya', RICH!!!!

Actually, my herbs garden is in a recycling bin provided by the City of Los Angeles. I don't have to give them all my recycling.

Oh yeah, I make some of my own dirt too.

Save a can, scoop up some dirt and get some seeds. You too can be rich.

Keep up the good work. Some day I believe we really will be living mostly off of our storage.

Let me know when you want to go canning!

I have been cooking off the food we have had in the house for about 2 months now. I go to the store to get soem fresh foods, and things i have used up ... But i will be working on getting things that last longer this time IE food storage. Its cheeper then grocerys, and its good to work with it and be prepaired. Good luck! We want to get out of debt too!
