Doing Better

This is the logo for the Roxanna Todd-Hodges Foundation. Roxanna, though still alive, is severly debilitated by several strokes. Not wanting anybody else to go though what she has, she created this foundation to help educate the public about healthy lifestyle choices, medical screenings and interventions available to help "strike out stroke."
I volunteer to do blood sugars, blood pressures and cholesterol screenings. I also give diabetic education talks twice a year.

Today I did a cholesterol screening on myself--YAHOO!! Good numbers!

Total Cholesterol = 186

HDL=45

triglycerides=135

LDL=114

Gotta love those Cheerios!

(do you know your numbers?)

Dinner Tonight

These are our wonderful friends, Fred and Adohr.
(i swiped this photo from Shelly's blog)

We have known them almost our whole married life and it would be hard to express here what they mean to us and how much knowing them has enriched our lives.

Tonight Larry had some Church business to conduct with Fred. He went to the Hansen home to get a signature and came back with dinner--chili, rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

These folks feed us body and soul.

San Diego Zoo

This is Bai Yun.

She is the most wonderful panda mom in the world.

This is Gao Gao.

He's a nut but he does know how to get the job done.

When we first met Bai Yun they had a mate for her named Shi Shi. Not much interest there. Turns out he was older than they thought but through artificial insemination he became the father of Hua Mei. She now is the mom to three sets of twins in Woolong, China.

Bai Yun and Gao Gao are having no problem with the mating thing and have produced one son, Mei Shing and two daughters, Su Lin and Zhing Zhing.

In the wild, mom weans the cub at 18 months to get ready to mate again. The youngest cub is now 17 months old, mom is already snapping at her and trying to get into Gao Gao's turf. Ya think she's ready for the next cub?

She is an amazing girl and already has quite a legacy!

I did it!!

This is a muffaleta - - -

I LOVE this sandwich!!

As far as I know, New Orleans is the only place to get one--

until now.

I found a recipe and made one.

With some apprehension, I took a bite.

It tasted like it was supposed to.

(i'm in heaven)
